When Leonard Cohen Comes Back to Chelsea

Personal Poems

Poetry when leonard cohem come back to chelsea

A man sits at an outdoor café blowing smoke rings

and drinking

a glass of Burgundy

alone, waiting for a friend

or a daughter

or a former lover, or maybe

thinking of the Warhol print that hangs across the street which

reminds him

that Superman doesn’t need no seatbelt, or

maybe,

just taking the time to loosen his tie and

breathe

on a sun-kissed winter Monday afternoon that feels

like the first day of Spring and makes everyone

smile

for no particular reason at all.
